    Call to Worship

“Make a joyful noise to the LORD, all the earth! Serve the LORD with gladness! Come into his presence with singing!”

“Know that the LORD, he is God! It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.” (Psalm 100:1–3)

This call to worship God comes from Psalm 100. This Psalm teaches us that it is God who made us. Not only, He made everything else, too. The stars, the oceans, polar bears and oak trees. And all that He made was designed to bring Him praise and glory. Let's fulfill our purpose and glorify our God today. We will begin by singing our praises to Him.

    Corporate Reading

This fact, that all creation proclaims the glory of God, is seen in many places in our Bible. Psalm 148 is one of them. We are going to read this entire Psalm together. I will read the parts marked Leader. You read the parts marked Congregation.

    Leader

“Praise the LORD! Praise the LORD from the heavens; praise him in the heights! Praise him, all his angels; praise him, all his hosts!”

    Congregation

“Praise him, sun and moon, praise him, all you shining stars! Praise him, you highest heavens, and you waters above the heavens!”

    Leader

“Let them praise the name of the LORD! For he commanded and they were created. And he established them forever and ever; he gave a decree, and it shall not pass away.”

    Congregation

“Praise the LORD from the earth, you great sea creatures and all deeps, fire and hail, snow and mist, stormy wind fulfilling his word!”

    Leader

“Mountains and all hills, fruit trees and all cedars! Beasts and all livestock, creeping things and flying birds!”

    Congregation

“Kings of the earth and all peoples, princes and all rulers of the earth! Young men and maidens together, old men and children!”

    Leader

“Let them praise the name of the LORD, for his name alone is exalted; his majesty is above earth and heaven. He has raised up a horn for his people, praise for all his saints, for the people of Israel who are near to him. Praise the LORD!” (Psalm 148)

Amen! And the great Horn that He has raised up for His people, is none other than Christ our Saviour. Let's sing to one another of the love God has shown us in sending His Son to save us from our sins.

    Confession of Sin

We have been singing and reading of God our Creator, and if you know your bible, then you know that it wasn't long after God created the world, that our representative Adam sinned. And because of that sin, he eventually died. Genesis 5:5 Thus all the days that Adam lived were 930 years, and he died.

    "And he died…."

Death came into this world because of one man's sin. And to that one sin, we have added all our own sins. Please join me in prayer as I ask the Lord to forgive us for our most recent trespasses.

    Confession of Sin

Lord, we have not done all that you have asked us to do. And we have done too many things you have told us to not do. Please forgive us. For every lie, lust and lack of faith. And for the sins we cannot remember right now. We plead the blood of Jesus alone as our only righteousness. Amen.

    Assurance of Pardon

“…for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, [but we Christians] are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus…” (Romans 3:23–24)

Brother, Sister… if you are in Christ Jesus, in spite of all your failings and sins, you have been justified by His grace as a gift. You are redeemed.

Listen to the Word of God

“And to Adam he said, ‘Because you have listened to the voice of your wife and have eaten of the tree of which I commanded you, “You shall not eat of it,” cursed is the ground because of you; in pain you shall eat of it all the days of your life; thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you; and you shall eat the plants of the field. By the sweat of your face you shall eat bread, till you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken; for you are dust, and to dust you shall return.’” (Genesis 3:17–19)

This reading was from Genesis 3.
