Call to Worship
“The LORD reigns, let the earth rejoice; let the many coastlands be glad! For you, O LORD, are most high over all the earth; you are exalted far above all gods. Rejoice in the LORD, O you righteous, and give thanks to his holy name!” (Psalm 97:1,9, 12)
We are called to worship God today from Psalm 97. What the entire world should do, the people of God love to do! That is, to delight in God. We rejoice in, exult in, take pleasure in God Himself. The great Maker of all things is our great delight. Let’s sing to one another of His greatness.

Confession of Sin
In Psalm 66 the poet calls on us to worship God:
“Shout for joy to God, all the earth; sing the glory of his name; give to him glorious praise!” (Psalm 66:1–2)
Yet, near the end of this Psalm, he acknowledges something….
“If I had cherished iniquity in my heart, the Lord would not have listened.” (Psalm 66:18)
We should not expect God to hear our praises, if we are failing to confess our sins.
It is as simple as that. So, let’s take a moment to confess all our sins to the Lord in private prayer.Service Leader

Listen then, to how the Psalmist concludes his poem…
“If I had cherished iniquity in my heart, the Lord would not have listened. But truly God has listened; he has attended to the voice of my prayer. Blessed be God, because he has not rejected my prayer or removed his steadfast love from me!” (Psalm 66:18–20)
Dear ones, if you have unearthed your sins, confessed and rejected them, then you can be sure God has heard your prayer. And He will never take His steadfast love from you. Praise be to Jesus, our Saviour.

Corporate Reading
The 1689 London Baptist Confession of Faith, Chapter 30 Paragraph 2:
"In this ordinance Christ is not offered up to His Father, nor is any real sacrifice made at all for remission of sin of the living or the dead. It is only a memorial of the one offering Christ made of Himself on the cross once for all. It is also a spiritual offering of the highest possible praise to God for that sacrifice. Thus, the Roman Catholic sacrifice of the mass (as they call it) is utterly abominable and detracts from Christ’s own sacrifice, which is the only propitiation for all the sins of the elect."
