Call to Worship
“The LORD reigns; let the peoples tremble! He sits enthroned upon the cherubim; let the earth quake! The LORD is great in Zion; he is exalted over all the peoples. Let them praise your great and awesome name! Holy is he! Exalt the LORD our God; worship at his footstool! Holy is he!” (Psalm 99:1–3, 5)
This call to worship the Holy God comes from Psalm 99. It is a call for all people everywhere to stop what they're doing and exalt, praise and tremble before God. Are you ready to do this? Let's sing to one another of His glorious holiness in order to set our hearts on the real God.

Please read out loud with me these words from 1 Peter. Let's remind each other of our need to live holy lives to the glory of God. Please read out loud with me.
“Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance, but as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, since it is written, ‘You shall be holy, for I am holy.’” (1 Peter 1:13–16)

Confession of Sin
God is holy and worthy of our praise. One of the ways we praise Him is by how we live. What we think about and what we do. Sadly, those thoughts and behaviours can also be faked. We can fool each other and hide our sins from each other. But wise Solomon warned us…
“Whoever conceals his transgressions will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy. Blessed is the one who fears the LORD always, but whoever hardens his heart will fall into calamity.” (Proverbs 28:13–14)

Concealable Sins
Hard hearts are susceptible to secret sins. Sins that are hard to spot and easier to cover up.
We:
Covet – we want what others have
Envy – we want others to lose what they have
Boastful – we think lofty thoughts about ourselvesLikely all of us have committed at least one, if not all, of these heart sins this past week. Let's heed Solomon's wisdom and confess and forsake our sins together. Please read this prayer out loud with me, to the Lord.

Confession of Sin
Lord,
We all admit that we have coveted, envied, and boasted.
Whether it was last week, or years before, we confess that:
We have longed to have for ourselves, what You have given to others.
We have secretly desired the prosperous to fail.
We have had silly, lofty thoughts about our own worth.
And these are not our only sins, O Lord.
Please forgive us and cleanse us from every covetous, envious or boastful thought.
When you consider our sins, remember Christ and His sacrifice for sinners like us.
Restore us into right relationship with You.
Please make us humble, content, and full of love for other people.
We ask all this in the Name of our Saviour Jesus, Amen.Service Leader
Assurance of Pardon
Brothers and sisters, those of you whom God has already saved… ponder this for a moment.
“But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Saviour appeared, he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that being justified by his grace we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.” (Titus 3:4–7)
Our salvation is not based on our performance, but on His regeneration and justification of us. It is good to confess our sins, but that is not what saves us. Christ has saved us, by His grace, and for His glory. We are heirs of God because He paid the penalty of all of our sins on His cross. Praise the Lord. And let's sing to one another of our only hope — the saving work of Jesus our Saviour.

Listen to the Word of God as I read Hezekiah's encouragement to the people of God when they were facing a terrifying enemy…
“‘Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or dismayed before the king of Assyria and all the horde that is with him, for there are more with us than with him. With him is an arm of flesh, but with us is the LORD our God, to help us and to fight our battles.’” (2 Chronicles 32:7–8)
And the people took confidence from the words of Hezekiah king of Judah. This reading was from 2 Chronicles 32.

Benediction
Receive this blessing of the Lord from His Word:
“Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.” (1 Corinthians 15:58)
