    Call to Worship

“Let those who delight in my righteousness shout for joy and be glad and say evermore, ‘Great is the LORD, who delights in the welfare of his servant!’ Then my tongue shall tell of your righteousness and of your praise all the day long.” (Psalm 35:27–28)

This call to worship God with joy and gladness comes from Psalm 35. Here the Psalmist encourages us to use our tongues, our voices, to praise the Lord all day long. Well, let's begin this day by calling on the tongues or voices of each other to do that very thing. To sing the praise of our God.

I will read the parts marked Leader.

Psalm 1 and Psalm 119:9–16 Leader

“Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night.”

    Congregation

“He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers.”

    Leader

“The wicked are not so, but are like chaff that the wind drives away. Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous; for the LORD knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish.” (Psalm 119:9–16)

    Leader

“How can a young man keep his way pure?”

    Congregation
By guarding it according to your word.

“With my whole heart I seek you; let me not wander from your commandments! I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.”

    Leader

“Blessed are you, O LORD; teach me your statutes! With my lips I declare all the rules of your mouth. In the way of your testimonies I delight as much as in all riches.”

    Congregation

“I will meditate on your precepts and fix my eyes on your ways. I will delight in your statutes; I will not forget your word.” (Psalm 119:9–16)
