Parting Praise Ephesians 3:20–21

“Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.” (Ephesians 3:20–21)

Promise of Duty Joshua 24:24

Leader

It is right and good for us to re-affirm our desire to serve the Lord. Please read out loud with me these words God's people spoke when Joshua challenged them to choose God and not their idols.

All

“‘The LORD our God we will serve, and his voice we will obey.’” (Joshua 24:24)

Psalm 40 Testimonies of Grace Psalm 40:9–10

David wrote this of his desire to tell everyone of God's grace to him.

“I proclaim righteousness in the great assembly; see, I do not keep my mouth closed — as You know, Lord. I did not hide Your righteousness in my heart; I spoke about Your faithfulness and salvation; I did not conceal Your constant love and truth from the great assembly.” (Psalm 40:9–10)

It is the joy of the Christian to tell others of what God has done for them. Let’s hear from four of our members, as they summarize how God declared them righteous in Christ.

4 Members each share their testimony in four sentences each.
Here is who I was in sin.
Here is how God intervened.
Here is how I believed.
Here is how He has kept me.

Concealable Sins

Hard hearts are susceptible to secret sins. Sins that are hard to spot and easier to cover up.

We:
Covet – we want what others have
Envy – we want others to lose what they have
Boastful – we think lofty thoughts about ourselves

Likely all of us have committed at least one, if not all, of these heart sins this past week. Let's heed Solomon's wisdom and confess and forsake our sins together. Please read this prayer out loud with me, to the Lord.

The Brevity of Life Psalm 144:4

The Bible tells us that life is short.

“Man is like a breath; his days are like a passing shadow.” (Psalm 144:4)

“Behold, you have made my days a few handbreadths, and my lifetime is as nothing before you. Surely all mankind stands as a mere breath!” (Psalm 39:5)

“‘Man who is born of a woman is few of days and full of trouble. He comes out like a flower and withers; he flees like a shadow and continues not.” (Job 14:1–2)

“The years of our life are seventy, or even by reason of strength eighty; yet their span is but toil and trouble; they are soon gone, and we fly away. So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom.” (Psalm 90:10, 12)

Life is short in this world… but never-ending in the next. Let's take a moment to solemnly consider the brevity of our lives and the eternity that awaits us.
