Call to Worship
“Lift up your heads, O gates! And be lifted up, O ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. Who is this King of glory? The LORD, strong and mighty, the LORD, mighty in battle! Lift up your heads, O gates! And lift them up, O ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. Who is this King of glory? The LORD of hosts, he is the King of glory!” (Psalm 24:7–10)
This call to worship God comes from Psalm 24. It is an unusual one, where the people of God are pictured as calling out to the city gates to open up in order to let the King enter. In one sense, the Lord Jesus has opened those gates for all to enter by His own atoning death and resurrection. And so we join His procession and say, Lead on, O King Eternal!

Listen to this description of Ruth's determination to follow Naomi… and her Lord.
“But Ruth said, ‘Do not urge me to leave you or to return from following you. For where you go I will go, and where you lodge I will lodge. Your people shall be my people, and your God my God. Where you die I will die, and there will I be buried. May the LORD do so to me and more also if anything but death parts me from you.’ And when Naomi saw that she was determined to go with her, she said no more.” (Ruth 1:16–18)
This reading from the Word of God is from Ruth 1.

Confession of Sin
David wrote what we can all acknowledge… the propensity of our hearts to wander from the Lord. So he prayed..
“With my whole heart I seek you; let me not wander from your commandments!” (Psalm 119:10)
And he surrounded this verse before and aft with good counsel as to how to not wander…
“How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to your word.”
“I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.” (Psalm 119:9–11)
Have you been wandering from God in your heart?
Have you neglected to store up His Word in your heart?
Have you let impurity creep into your life?If yes, then turn back to Jesus now and find forgiveness for your sins. I cannot do it for you. But He is willing to to receive you if you are willing to come. So, spend a few moments now in silent prayer confessing your wandering to the Lord.

Assurance of Pardon
Brothers and Sisters, if you have authentically gone to Jesus and asked for His forgiveness for your sins, then be assured that He says to you…
“I have blotted out your transgressions like a cloud and your sins like mist; return to me, for I have redeemed you.” (Isaiah 44:22)
Praise the Lord. Please stand and sing with me of this great salvation!
